In the capital zone there is a tree that, for decades, has caught the attention of those who go through the place, both for their imposition and because of the mystery that surrounds it. Many people call it The Lord’s Tree.
This tree, an amate, has been on the avenue of the cemetery for more than 50 years and is characterized by its large size and multiple roots, which has always attracted the eyes of passers -by.
According to the neighbors, in this tree the mourners found comfort, because their roots seemed to absorb the tears of those who gave off a loved one in the general cemetery, located a few meters away.
Hence the name of Regret treea nickname that became popular among the inhabitants of the area.
The Municipality of Guatemala reported that it will cut the tree due to its deterioration, since its collapse could cause an accident.
