Various groups of women, teenagers, youth and adults toured the streets of the Historic Center, from the Palace of Justice to the National Palace of Culture, ending the march in the Plaza de la Constitución.
With slogans, songs and posters expressed their messages, demanding respect for women’s rights, mainly equity, justice, safe transport, access to health, among others, as well as the cessation of violence against women.
In addition, they spoke against harassment and machismo; They demanded justice, health and education, and also advocated the right to abortion. They made some accusations against deputies, including for the salary increase of parliamentarians; In addition, they criticized the Attorney General of the MP, Consuelo Porras, and other officials, as well as the unionist of the Magisterium, Joviel Acevedo.
Groups of university students such as Landivarianas and the University of San Carlos, members of CODECA, young rebel jacarandas, and others, participated.
“Why do you scare yourself for those who fight and not for those who die,” “Valientes are already, we want to be free” and “free, powerful and without fear,” are some of the messages in the posters.
“Do not deceive you, it was not your fault, it will never be”, and “that your inner girl is proud of the teacher you are. Teachers save lives, ”expressed themselves in others, accompanied by songs, slogans and music.
Vandalism
On the march there was also a group of around 15 women, with black clothing, even some with a covered face, pinting with different slogans in buildings, businesses and monuments. The water of the source of the monument that is located in front of the Municipality of Guatemala was stained with red paint.
Others placed posters in buildings and in the transmeter stops, among others, criticizing parliamentarians and officials.
