The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) reported that before the increase in the activity of the fire volcano in the last hours and attending the recommendations of the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (CONRED), has suspended educational activities in Altenango, Sacatepéquez; Escuintla and Siquinalá, and in San Pedro Yepocapa, Chimaltenango.

“This prevention measure applies to the educational centers of the public and private sector, by cooperative, municipal and extracurricular education,” said the Mineduc.

He added that the decision to suspend classes is because of the presence of ash particles that could affect the communities.

He indicated that, according to notices issued by the CONRED, the activity of the Fire volcano could cause a greater presence of ash in the surrounding areas and as a measure of prevention and protecting the health of boys, girls, adolescents and young people, educational activities are suspended this Monday, March 10.

The Mineduc announced that it will be informing of the activities according to the recommendations you receive.

Conred reported that the institutional orange alert has been declared in view of the increase in the effusive activity of the Fire Volcano, which has caused the decrease in pyroclastic flows by the ravines of the volcanic complex, according to the information issued by Insivumeh.
