The president of the Congress of the Republic, Nery Ramos, spoke this Thursday, March 13 on the investigation of the Public Ministry (MP) related to a armored vehicle that would have used and claimed to be a victim of a discredit campaign.
On March 4, the MP reported on two raids in Fraijanes and in zone 14 capital to seize a armored vehicle that was supposedly used by Ramos.
According to the MP report, published on social networks, the truck is a 2024 model, with P-408kkl plates, and is valued at approximately US $ 85 thousand.
The MP added that, according to investigations from the Prosecutor’s Office, the Crown & Lion company would have acquired high -end vehicles without complying with financial and economic profiles to carry out these transactions. They also pointed out that the company could have incurred the crime of money laundering or other assets.
“The law empowers this type of investigations. What has caught my attention, definitely, is a systematic attack with lies to my person. You perfectly remember that you started with an attack on the purchase of a helicopter, ”Ramos told the network.
He added that no one can demonstrate anything because, in his opinion, “it is absolutely false.”
“The only helicopter I got up was the one I made a payment for a trip to Jutiapa, on the occasion of the inauguration of a computer center in the rural school where I started my studies,” he added.
Ramos also denied having acquired properties valued at US $ 2 million in a recognized area of the capital and denied being linked to the accident of a bus that left 54 dead.
“To all Guatemalans, what I can tell you is that they are informed through serious means and that we do not fall into the misinformation promoted by some spokesmen of criminal and corrupt structures in the country, as well as other net centers that have installed antidemocratic narratives in Guatemala,” he said.
Defends decorations
Ramos, who was also director of the National Civil Police (PNC), defended the decorations he received in that institution and assured that they were the product of his work on security issues.
“They have dared to question the decorations I received when I was a subaltern, a third officer in the PNC, and who meant facing organized crime structures, to blood kidnappers and rescue children, girls, adolescents and parents who were in the hands of those structures,” he said.
