Walter Tomás Mejía and Cristian Aroldo Barrios, both 30 years old, were linked to criminal proceedings on January 30 for the crime of illicit association.
According to authorities, both are investigated by The plagiarism or kidnapping of a doctor on January 18, when the victim entered his home in Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez.
The doctor was rescued healthy and saved on the 25th of the same month in a residential in zone 3 of Mazatenango, after an operation coordinated by the anti -discueaning unit of the National Civil Police.

On Thursday, March 13, the preparatory stage hearing was held and the judge filled the request for the defense of the syndicates for the review of coercion measures that sought a substitute measure to leave preventive detention.
The judge declared the petition without place, because according to him, the aforementioned represent danger, so they will continue in preventive detention.
The Public Prosecutor requested the reform of the Order of Processing of the syndicates to change the crime of illegal association for plagiarism or kidnapping; However, the defense requested to suspend the hearing because they did not receive the evidence that would be presented for the diligence.
Given the request for the defense, the judge decided to suspend the Auto Reform of the Processing.
