While thousands of Guatemalans block important routes of the country, the organization 48 cantons of Totonicapán reiterated its rejection of the creation of mandatory insurance for all types of vehicle, with which the government claims to promote road responsibility. In addition, he questions the salary increase of the deputies and declares himself in permanent assembly.

The organization gives the Executive a period of five days to repeal the agreements and summons for next Saturday to other indigenous groups in order to analyze the actions to be taken, since it considers that the mandatory insurance is a smoke curtain before the increase in the salary of the deputies and other failures of the government.

The leaders say that the five -day period granted to the Executive seeks to avoid arbitrary decisions that may affect the interests of the people.

They also call the population to pay attention to several short -term issues, such as inauguration at the Guatemala Bar Association and Notaries and the changes that the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT) will apply to the Tax Identification Number (NIT).

The pronouncement of the 48 cantons occurs in the context of a second day of intense protests and road blockages against the mandatory insurance for vehicles.
