The United States Attorney General, PAM Bondi, announced Thursday that she has presented charges against three people accused of burning vehicles, concessionaires or Load Stations of Tesla. In addition, he requested a penalty of between five and 20 years in prison for each.
“That this serves as a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against the properties of Tesla, the Department of Justice will put you together,” said Bondi, according to a statement released by the Department of Justice.
The vehicles, concessionaires and properties of Tesla have been the target of attacks since its CEO, Elon Musk, assumed the direction of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), an entity responsible for cutting expenses and bureaucracy in the federal government by the mandate of the US president, Donald Trump.
“The days of committing crimes without consequences have ended,” said the prosecutor. “The three defendants will face the entire weight of the law for using Molotov cocktails to set fire to cars and load stations of Tesla,” adds the text.
According to the Department of Justice, one of the defendants, who was allegedly armed with a light assault rifle, was arrested after launching approximately eight Molotov cocktails against a Tesla dealership in Salem (Oregon).
Another defendant was arrested in Loveland (Colorado) for trying to set fire to Tesla vehicles with Molotov cocktails. In addition, he allegedly carried materials to manufacture other incendiary weapons.
The third defendant, detained in Charleston (South Carolina), is accused of writing offensive messages against the president before setting fire to the load stations.
The Department of Justice, which has not specified the dates of these three attacks, has pledged to end all acts of violence and fires directed against the properties of Tesla or any other type, adds the statement.
