Municipal and volunteer firefighters reported this March 22 on a forest fire originated in the vicinity of the Las Charcas neighborhood.
According to the municipal firefighters, the fire occurred specifically in the drop in the community, a mountain hillside that borders between zone 11 of Villa Nueva and Zone 10 of Mixco.
For their part, the volunteer firefighters pointed out that the fire threatened to expand to the facilities of an educational center.
The brigade carries out actions, such as the use of a high pressure hose, to suffocate the fire, which is controlled in 60 %, says officer José Santizo, of the municipal firefighters.
Finally, the relief bodies recommended to the population to avoid burning weeds in forested areas, since the country’s warm environment also increases fire spread.
