CC orders expulsion of Karina Paz from the VOS block and gives rise to its departure from the Board of Directors

A resolution of the Constitutional Court (CC) orders Board of Directors of the Congress of the Republic Notify the expulsion of the deputy and first secretary Karina Paz, of the will, opportunity and solidarity block (you), after an amparo in favor of the rest of the deputies of that bench.

As a consequence, Peace would not have the power to integrate the current directive of the Congress, according to the opinion released this Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Peace was consulted about his position, but just indicated that he will later announce his position.

The first vice president, Jorge Castro, said that the possibility of legal actions against the members of the Directive was unknown. However, he explained the process to perform a replacement in case that scenario occurs.

“The Board of Directors is represented by members of different blocks. If a deputy, through due process and with a final sentence, remains as independent, corresponds to his block to present a substitute”, Castro expanded.

According to this principle, the VOS block retains the power to choose who to designate in the management position that would be vacant after the release of peace, since each political group is responsible for proposing its representatives in the Board of Directors.

The constitutional order against peace occurs after internal conflicts on the VOS bench, which had already had an altercation in January 2025.

On January 23, a session ended in struggles and screams. A video evidenced the discussion caused by the tensions existing since then, due to disputes over the control of the political group.

The constitutional order also arises after the Board of Directors announced the suspension of the salary increase, which generated a crossing of accusations among the congressmen.
