This March 28, the authorities rehabilitated the five lanes at Km 44 of the Palín-Escuintla route, after more than nine months of work and an investment of more than Q59 million.

The Guatemala Government reported on March 28 that the five lanes have been rehabilitated at kilometer 44 of the Palín-Escuintla highway, since last June 13, 2024 the route collapsed and the repair works took more than nine months.

In a video published by the government authorities, it is observed how President Bernardo Arévalo authorized the authorization of the five lanes.

The engineer in charge of the works at kilometer 44 of the Palín-Secla highway ensures that the route is prepared for the rainy season, since, among the works done, is the construction of a new duct to expand the drainage capacity.

In addition, the Minister of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Ángel Díaz, said during the rehabilitation of km 44 that the work in kilometers 39 and 45 were also completed.

They had to spend approximately 288 days since the route collapsed on June 13, 2024, in addition to an investment of more than Q59 million for repair work.
