From the Free Trade Agreement, agreements and memoranda of understanding in various areas of cooperation, the ties between the two countries continue to strengthen.
The bilateral relationship between Colombia and Guatemala is experiencing one of its best moments, with a growing commercial and cultural and cooperation exchange in different fields. The Colombian Embassy invites citizens and entrepreneurs from both countries to take advantage of the opportunities that arise with this bicentennial, to continue narrowing the historical ties of friendship.
In this Bicentennial, the Colombian Embassy in Guatemala has prepared a series of cultural and business activities that highlight the diversity and richness of the bilateral relationship.
Among the activities scheduled to commemorate this historical year, the simultaneous lighting of the Correos building in Guatemala with the colors of the Flag of Colombia and the Colpatria Tower of Bogotá stands out with those of the Flag of Guatemala, with which the celebrations began.
In April, the Colombia Viva show of the Folkloric Ballet of Antioquia will be presented, which will bring together 28 artists, including dancers, musicians and singer, who will bring the best of Colombian folklore to Guatemala. The objective is to show the cultural diversity of Colombian regions through typical dances, music and costumes.
This presentation will be possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of several Colombian and Guatemalan busines Technofilms, Trelec, Group Ng, Cementos Argos, Ahumadores de Juancho, Quala, Relocquim, Super and Castillo Hermanos.
The Colombian Embassy will participate in May at the Central America Festival, in July at the International Book Fair of Guatemala and at the Festival de la Luz in Antigu activities that will be announced throughout the year.
As an interesting fact, in Colombia, the entertainment industry grew 8.1% in 2024, contributing 0.3 percentage points to the annual variation of GDP, evidencing the importance of this country’s economy sector, with about 8.7 billion dollars, which generates thousands of jobs, which are reflected in better living conditions for citizens.
The impact of the entertainment industry in Colombia attracts international tourists and encourages cultural development. Important events, fairs and parties such as the Vallenata Legend, Rock al Park, the Flores Fair, the Cali Fair, the Barranquilla Carnival, the Carnival of blacks and white, among many others, not only generate significant income, but also promote the image of Colombia as an entertainment destination, strengthening regional economies and contributing to tourism development.
