Several sectors of the capital were affected by the downpours registered on Monday night, March 31, which caused water accumulation in streets and the suspension of the electric power service in various areas.

After several days under the influence of high temperatures, Guatemala City was surprised by strong storms that affected neighbors from different areas, who also reported failures in the electricity supply.

Reports on social networks indicate that rain affected large sectors of the capital, such as zones 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 17 and 18.

“Lloaring and drizzling in several areas of areas. Activate your emergency lights. Pedestrian crossing alert under strokes or motorists waiting under bridges,” said Amílcar Montejo, spokesman for Emetra.

He added that users on social networks reported rain on the road to El Salvador, zone 13, zone 14, zone 15 and zone 16. In addition, he mentioned effects on the routes to the Atlantic, La Paz Calzada, Landívar Boulevard, Route to El Salvador, Boulevard Los Próceres, Boulevard Las Américas and Avenida Avecapié.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) reported that rains generate flood at kilometer 56 of the CA-09 North route, in the village the Upayón, SALARATE, THE PROGRESS. Regarding the capital, Conred has not spoken.

Blackouts

Users on social networks point out that several sectors of the capital have irregularities in the electric power service.

A general blackout is reported from the Mayan neighborhood, in zone 18, to the villages of San Pedro Ayampuc.

Energy cuts have also been reported in sectors of zone 5.

The electric company on the blackouts was consulted, but no response has been obtained.
