The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said Monday, March 31 that his administration has opened a line of communication with North Korea and considered that, at some point, his government will probably do something in relation to that country.
There is communication, Trump said in statements to the press in the Oval Office of the White House.
The president stressed that this line of dialogue is important because North Korea is a nuclear power and said that he and North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, will probably do something at some point.
During his first term (2017-2021), Trump promoted an approach strategy to Kim, with whom he assured exchange letters of love, and both held three historical meetings between 2018 and 2019 in Singapore, Hanói and the demilitarized area between the two Koreas.
However, the negotiations stagnated and did not translate into significant advances in the denuclearization of the North Korean regime.
