A woman must turn five years in prison for having mistreated her son, whom she tied with wire in a sector of the Chimaltenango head.

Maura Evangelina Rosales Tinoco, 25, was sentenced to five years and four months in prison for the crime of abuse against minors, after in 2024 she tied her three -year -old son with wire in a sector of the head of Chimaltenango, judicial sources reported on Tuesday.
The case was recorded on June 2, 2024 in La Alameda, Chimaltenango, and went viral in social networks after neighbors denounced Rosales Tinoco before the National Civil Police (PNC), whose agents found the child tied from the hands with wire and subject to the leg of a table.
On that occasion it was reported that the child had signs of malnutrition and blows in different parts of the body.
The Women’s Fiscal Agency in Chimaltenango also requested an economic reparation for moral damage, for an amount of Q 9 155.

The rescue was carried out on Sunday, June 2, after receiving complaints about a possible case of child abuse at 5th Avenue and 13 Alameda Street.
The Attorney General’s Office (PGN) confirmed that the child presented a severe picture of malnutrition, so he was transferred to a temporary home specialized in these types of cases.
In addition, the PGN reported that the child evidenced marks and signs of abuse, although the investigation continues to deepen these findings.
The PNC spread a video of the rescue in which the moment is observed when the child is released and their cries are heard while the agents try to comfort him.
PNC, in response to the established protocols, entered the house and proceeded to rescue the minor, who was transferred to a health center, the institution said in its statement.
