- Steatoid pityriasis (or fat dandruff): This type of dandruff is characterized by causing thicker skin, which have a yellowish, fatty and sticky appearance. Even its adhesion to the scalp and the hair is greater. They usually appear, above all, in the front of the head and in the neck, areas where more fat is produced.
Does stress cause dandruff?
“There are several factors that influence the appearance of the dandruff, for example, irritated and greasy skin, dry skin, sensitivity to hair care products and fungi, among others. Stress can also influence its appearance,” says Gustavo Quinteros, dermatologist.
Recall that one of the most common ways in which stress is reflected is in our skin, causing acne, dryness, skin rashes or excess fat. Although these are signs that are visible more on our face, they also occur in the scalp.
Stress can cause the cutaneous scalp barrier to be compromised and irritate, which can cause itching, burning and dryness. In addition, that the common fungus that lives in this area suffers an imbalance and begins the appearance of the dandruff.
