Police Station 33 of the National Civil Police (PNC) reported on Tuesday, April 8 about an armed attack in which an agent lost his life and another was injured, in San Francisco Zapotitlán, Suchitepéquez.
According to the police report, on Monday 7 at 11:20 p.m., both agents were the subject of an attack in the El Rosario neighborhood, in that municipality.
One of the uniformed was identified as Esdras Josué Arreaga Escobar, 31, who, according to the report, suffered a gunshot wound in the face. The other agent resulted in an injury to the left leg. Both were assigned to the substation of San Francisco Zapotitlán and were transferred to a Mazatenango hospital.
Through a scheme published on social networks, the PNC reported that Esdras Josué Arreaga Escobar died due to the seriousness of the wound.
According to the preliminary investigation, the agents made a citizen security tour aboard the MAZ-171 motorcycle when they were shot by three individuals who mobilized in a truck. After the attack, the aggressors fled with an unknown direction, according to the PNC.
The report added that in the place of the event about 15 ballistic indications were located, of which traces of those responsible could be extracted.
According to the PNC, the aggressors stole the team weapon of the agent Arreaga Escobar after perpetrating the attack.
