The Sixth Criminal Court suspended on Tuesday, April 8, the opposition hearing of lawyer Claudia González, former president of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (Cicig), due to the accumulation of processes, judicial sources reported.

During the hearing, González’s defense would request that the Public Ministry (MP) be ordered to disarch an investigation related to social networks that disclosed information under judicial reserve.

González’s defense seeks to reopen a complaint filed by the filtration of information on the criminal process against him, in which he is indicated for the alleged crime of abuse of authority.

The specific requirement is to identify people behind the account in the social network X called “Yes Master”. However, such request was not known due to the suspension of the diligence.

Joselin Jácome, defender of González, explained that the objective was to follow up on an objection against the file of the complaint filed by its sponsorship, in which she warned about the filtration of judicial actions. “There were accounts in the social network X that leaked information from the file, judicial actions, and advanced data that, at that time, the procedural subjects had not been notified. In that context, there was a leak of information,” he said.

The lawyer recalled that the Comptroller Judge of the Case ordered to investigate the facts; However, the MP decided to file the file by not individualizing the alleged perpetrators.

According to Jácome, the case file could have the purpose of preventing the process needed to identify those who administer the accounts from which information under reserve is filtered.
