The finding occurred on Tuesday night in the municipality of Tecoanapa, the Prosecutor’s Office reported in a statement, which has already initiated an investigation into the crime.

The local press attributes what happened to a confrontation between organized crime groups.

“Elements of the Ministerial Investigative Police and expert services carried out the first proceedings at the scene, as well as the uprising of corresponding indications,” added the Prosecutor’s Office in the Bulletin.

With coasts in the Pacific and a rugged geography, the state of Guerrero is one of the places most affected by drug trafficking violence, which has historically used it as a site of narcotics production and drug entry and exit port.

Numerous local mafias dispute their territories in blood and fire, also subjecting the local population, mostly poor and rural, crimes such as extortion and kidnapping, AFP reported.

In contrast, the State also houses popular beach tourist destinations such as Acapulco and Zihuatanejo, which are also a place for drug trade, according to authorities.
