During the Assembly of the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations (CACIF) on Monday, April 7, the Board of Directors was carried out.
For the 2025-2026 period, the Cacif Presidency will be in charge of Charles Bland replacing Carmen María Torrebiarte who concluded his mandate as a representative of the Guatemala Chamber of Industry (CIG).
Bland today is the president of the El Agro Chamber (Camagro), so it coincided with the direction of the organized private sector.
“Charles Bland, will lead the agenda of the private business sector organized with a vision centered on development, strengthening the investment climate and democratic institutions,” says a statement released this afternoon.
It is stated that “this challenge assumes with the commitment to promote, from the private sector unit, an incidence agenda that promotes investment, productivity and formal employment.”
On the two strategic priorities, the work plan will focus on improving the investment climate, which includes actions to ensure maintenance and investment in roads and ports and the strengthening of institutions, indicates the press release.
As first vice president of Cacif, Luis Fernando Castellanos, president of the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction and Francisco Ralda, president of the Guatemalan Association of Exporters (AGEXPORT) as second vice president.
What is coming
On the business perspective, Bland must monitor a second year of the government of President Bernardo Arévalo and his cabinet, as well as the implementation of the tariff policy by the United States and its possible global effects on world trade.
