The departmental municipal firefighters reported that on Wednesday, April 9, for reasons that are still unknown, a self -patrol of the National Civil Police (PNC), with at least 10 agents on board, became injured in sector 2 of the Tolá, Tajumulco village, San Marcos.
Five agents died and another five were injured in the accident, the PNC updated.
Lifeguards added that the injured uniformed were transferred in different units to the emergency of the San Marcos National Hospital.
“Serious traffic accident leaves several police officers who died and injured,” the PNC reported on social networks.
He added that the HU-140 unit fell to a hollow.
The police unit was destroyed by the accident.
Lifeguards added that the police unit fell into a ravine about 75 meters deep.
They indicated that the agents were expelled from the vehicle and a failure in the brake system would have caused the tragedy.
On Wednesday afternoon, the PNC indicated that another agent died, which adds five fatalities. The uniformed received attention in the intensive room of the National Hospital of San Marcos.
