Tiktok represented a quarter of the global profits of Bytedance in 2024, while the company faces pressures in the US to sell the application and avoid its prohibition.

Tiktok’s international income shot last year, while the Bytedance parent company, based in China, faced a deadline for selling the application or facing its prohibition in the United States, the Information media reported on Thursday, April 10.
The technology news publication cited a person with knowledge of the financial data of Bytedance, which was not identified, according to which the company’s income for international operations – especially Tiktok – increased 63% to US $ 39,000 million in 2024.
Bytedance did not immediately respond to a request for comments on such information.
The income obtained by Tiktok last year represented a quarter of the total profits of Bytedance, which reached a new maximum despite the reduction of their operations in China, according to the report.
The same source said that Bytedance’s net profit grew 6% in 2024, until reaching US $ 33,000 million.
The US president, Donald Trump, extended last week the deadline set for April 5, so that Tiktok finds a non -Chinese buyer and thus avoid his prohibition in the United States for national security reasons.
The Republican president said Sunday that there was an agreement for the sale of Tiktok, but the tariffs recently imposed by Washington to Beijing caused their failure.
Although Bytedance recently confirmed that he was in conversations with the US government to find a solution, he warned that there are still “key issues” to be resolved.
