“The Calvary road passes through our streets every day. We, Lord, usually we go in the opposite direction to yours. Precisely that way it can happen that we will find your face, that we cross your gaze,” the meditations of the via Crucis begin that this time will be chaired by the delegate of the Pope and Vicar of Rome, Cardinal Baldassare Reina.

In the 14 stations described by the passion of Christ, the Pope makes reflections such as the one proposed to embrace “the economy of God, who does not kill, does not rule out, does not crush. It is humble, faithful to earth.”

And compares it to a “dehuman” economy in which “ninety -nine are worth more than one.”

“However, we have built a world that works in this way; a world of calculations and algorithms, of cold logic and implacable interests,” he denounces.

In each station, the Pope writes a prayer and pray “to challenge an economy that kills” or “for those at the borders and feel that his trip is over.”

In another prayer, the Pope asks for peace to the Church. “Give your Church peace and unity Lord Jesus, that you carry the wounds of our history. Give your Church peace and unity Lord Jesus, which you know the fragility of our love.”

In the last station the Pope wishes peace for “all nations.” “Let your peace come for the earth, the air and the water. That your peace comes for the righteous and the unfair. That your peace comes for who is invisible and lacks voice. That your peace comes for those who have no power or money. Let your peace come for whom he expects a fair rebirth.”

In the final invocation the Pope cites the words of San Francisco to invoke “the gift of the conversion of the heart.”

The Vatican will not confirm the presence of the Pope in Holy Week rites, so his appearances will be by surprise.

This Thursday, Francisco wanted to continue with the tradition that began saints on Thursday and went to the Regina Coeli prison, in the Tistevere neighborhood, near the Vatican, to find 70 inmates.

It is still unknown if the Pope can give the blessing ‘Urbi et Orbi’ of the Easter that takes place on the balcony of the central lodge of the facade of the Basilica of San Pedro on Sunday of Resurrection.
