Each Good Fridaya carpet stands out among the dozens that wear the cobbled streets of Antigua Guatemala.
This is the carpet made with fresh vegetables and vegetables by the family Acajabónlocated on the street Disappointment, in front of the park San Sebastián.
This year, the carpet was dedicated to Marino Paol Acajabónand as in each edition, it attracted the attention of nationals and foreign who stops not only to admire it, but also to photograph it from all angles.
With a colorful and meticulous design, the carpet combines elements such as Carrots, onions, peppers, radishes, repollos, güisquiles, beatabeles and mazorcasforming Religious figures in great detail.
Unlike the traditional dyed sawdust carpets, this plant proposal transmits a message from connection with the earth, handmade work and respect for nature.
The Acajabón family has maintained this living tradition for generationsand every year it invests long hours during the previous night to place piece by piece, taking care of the symmetry and harmony of the design.
His work has been recognized for his creativity and the unusual use of edible materials, which makes this carpet one of the most photographed of Holy Week.
