A series of prophecies has begun to resurface after the death of Pope Francis and The official call to the cardinals to celebrate the conclavein which the next pontiff will be chosen to direct the Catholic Church. After the official announcement of the death of the Pope, old visions on the arrival of a “black Pope” that would mark the end of the Church again again relevant.

The arrival of a new Pope has brought to the discussion two prophecies on the choice of a “black Pope”, whom the Vatican would lead to power, but whose choice would mark the beginning of the end of humanity. This prophecy is repeated in the visions attributed to the Virgin of Fatima, while the other is a prediction made by the astrologer Michel de Nostradamus.

The first is known as the “black prophecy”, attributed to the Virgin of Fatima and revealed, according to historians, in 1917.

According to the History channel, the Virgin of Fatima appeared to the Portuguese brothers Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and her cousin Lucia, who was entrusted with a series of apocalyptic visions.

It is detailed that, on six occasions, the Virgin visited the children and shared secrets, such as the two world wars, the attack against Pope John Paul II, and the one that resonates these days: the arrival of a “black pope” that would symbolize the end of humanity.

It is said that these predictions were protected in the Vatican and are known as the “three secrets” that predict the future of the Church and humanity. Lucia, the largest of the three, was in charge of keeping the secrets, and shared them with a bishop, who asked him to write the third in a letter that should be opened until 1960.

It is claimed that it was Pope John XXIII who opened this secret in 1959 and that, after reading it, he asked to remain hidden.

It is believed that this vision announces the arrival of the last Pope, who will perish in the middle of a tragedy and will announce the end of the Catholic Church, a version that coincides with the prophecy of Nostradamus.

The magazine National Geographic He says that the astrologer made a prediction about the arrival of the last potatoes, including “a black Pope.” It was in his work The prophecies of Mr. Michel de Nostradamuspublished in 1555, where he announced the day of the final judgment.

This work affirms: first a “foreign pope” will come, identified by some believers as Benedict XVI; Then, an “old pope”, in reference to the late Pope Francis; And finally, it is detailed that a “black Pope” will bring the end of the world.

Concept symbolically or literally

Historians and believers detail that the concept of “Black Pope” could be interpreted as a symbolic reference to a pontiff belonging to the Society of Jesus – as Pope Francis was – since the Jesuits use a traditional black clothing, which could give rise to the term.

Others point out that this could refer to the skin tone of the new pontiff, suggesting that it would come from the African continent. This would be a historical choice, because there are currently more than 30 African cardinals among the 133 with the right to vote in the conclave.

Although the prophecies do not specifically clarify this aspect, they do indicate that with the arrival of said pontiff, betrayals, murders, the fall of the Vatican and the final judgment of humanity would be triggered.

These prophecies are not officially recognized by the Vatican, as is the case with The prophecies of San Malachiwho would have predicted the election of 109 pontiffs, being the last one in charge of announcing the end of the Church.

Papacy candidates of African origin.

At present, there are 252 cardinals worldwide, but only 138 have the right to vote or be chosen as Pope. According to Vatican’s norms, those cardinals who have not turned 80 can participate in the conclave. This process is carried out in strict isolation in the Sistine Chapel, as indicated by the meaning of the term conclave: “Under key”.

Although many of the candidates who sound with more force are of European and Asian origin, two African names have captured worldwide attention: Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Peter Ebere Okpaleke, from Nigeria. Some sectors link them with ancient prophecies that speak of the end of the times and the so -called “last Pope.”
