The Ministry of Citizen Safety and Protection (SSPC) of Mexico confirmed on Tuesday, April 22 that Bryan “N”, aka El Cachorro, killed during a confrontation with the forces of the order, operated for the Cartel of Chiapas and Guatemala, a criminal organization that disputes territory with the Sinaloa cartel, by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, aka El Mencho.
Omar García Harfuch, head of the SSPC, informed the media that on Monday, April 21, the death of El Puppy was reported after a confrontation with Chiapas authorities in the municipality of Villa de Corzo. At the time, he was identified as a high -ranking member of the CJNG; However, it was determined later that it belonged to the Cartel of Chiapas and Guatemala.
For his part, Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, Secretary of Security of Chiapas, informed that the puppy was killed by the authorities during the confrontation, in which another alleged criminal also died.
“They repelled the aggression of these subjects, neutralizing two (…) within these is the puppy, Bryan ‘N’, who was the head of the square throughout the friars and also second in command of the New Generation Cartel in Chiapas,” Aparicio said. However, García Harfuch later clarified that he did not belong to the CJNG.
The official reiterated that the puppy served as head of the square for the Chiapas and Guatemala cartel; In addition, he indicated that three police officers were injured in the armed confrontation.
“In these facts, three elements of the State Police were injured and two aggressors lost their lives. One of them, identified as Bryan ‘N’, aka El puppy, was head of the Plaza del Cartel de Chiapas and Guatemala,” said García Harfuch at a press conference.
The Mexican authorities reported that, in July 2024, the existence of the Chiapas and Guatemala cartel was recognized for the first time, after the discovery of 19 bodies in the municipality of La Concordia.
It is presumed that this group was founded by deserters of the CJNG, a criminal organization that also maintains a dispute with the Sinaloa cartel.
Arrested
In a second operation, in the municipality of Cintalapa, Chiapas, the authorities arrested three people, including Ataulfo López Flores, aka El Rater, indicated as head of the square of a criminal organization with presence in Chiapas and Guatemala. In this action, long weapons, short weapons and diverse doses of drugs were secured.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Federal Security Cabinet, the SSPC and the Attorney General of the State of Chiapas.
These arrests occur in a context of violence on the southern border of Mexico, with thousands of displaced people – especially indigenous – due to disputes between the Sinaloa cartel, the CJNG and the Chiapas and Guatemala cartel for the control of drug trafficking, people and extortion.
Since the beginning of the presidency of Claudia Sheinbaum, on October 1, the Mexican authorities have arrested 18,712 people for high -impact crimes and have confiscated 144 tons of drugs, including more than 2 million fentanyl pills, according to García Harfuch reported.
