It could not be for the Deportivo Marquense de Hernán Medford. The whole of the lions of San Marcos needed a triumph in municipal envelope at the Manuel Felipe Carrera stadium to maintain their aspirations to continue in National League Until day 22 of the Clausura 2025, but the goalless draw on Wednesday, April 23 leaves him practically descended.
The panorama for Marquense from the previous one was not encouraging, since he had to get a triumph against municipal as a visitor and then repeat result on the last day of the classification phase against Malacateco.
However, Marquense failed in the first objective and now left his destiny in the hands of Xinabajul and Guastatoya, who face this Wednesday at the Los Cuchumatanes stadium for day 21.

Marquense occupies the 11 position with 36 points and only aspires to make 39 if he manages to beat Malacateco on the last day, but Guastatoya already has 39 units and adding a tie against Xinabajul would be signing his salvation.
That is, Marquense’s fate could be sealed this same day, and although it could be officially descended, it still has options to play the final phase.
That would create a situation rarely seen in the National League, where a team already descended would continue alive in the final phase and could even fight to win the title of champion, something that has not happened to date.
Marquense had begun the Clausura 2025 with his right foot and at times he was far from the area of the descent, but then fell into a pothole of results and was unable to reverse his situation.
