Thousands of faithful from all over the world attended this Wednesday, April 23 to St. Peter’s Basilica to give his last goodbye to Pope Francis, who died on Monday 21.

The coffin was transferred from the chapel of Santa Marta in a solemn ceremony that marked the beginning of farewell tributes to the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.

Francisco’s open coffed was taken in shoulder procession by the Sediarios Pontifers and escorted by the Swiss Guard.

Subsequently, they placed it on the altar of the confession, where the faithful have a few moments to see Francisco for the last time.

Among the attendees in the Plaza de San Pedro is the Guatemalan Janet Navas, who narrated how the atmosphere is in that enclosure.

He indicated that one of the faithful has waited for 11 hours in the row to give the last goodbye to the pontiff, because there are long lines of people in the square.

In a video shared by the Guatemalan, the massive influx of people of all ages who come to say goodbye to Francisco are observed.
