Mario EscobarGuatemalan referee was called again to impart justice in a great scenario. The Concacaf appointed him as the main judge for the high -caliber duel that will hold the Vancouver Whitecaps and Inter Miami for the semifinals of the 2025 Champions Cup.
This duel will correspond to the first of two clashes between the Canadian club and the American, put the semifinals of the Champions Cup, dispute to a round trip tie.
The meeting in which Mario Escobar was appointed corresponds to the first leg, which will be held this April 24 at the BC Place Stadium (Canada) At 8.30 pm.
Escobar will not be the only representative of Guatemala in the semifinals of the Champions Cup, since he will be accompanied by Luis Ventura and Humberto Panjoj as assistants.
The fourth referee will be the Costa Rican Juan Gabriel Calderón.
Mario Escobar is an experienced international referee with Gafeto FIFA since 2013. In his professional resume he has presences in events such as the World Cup, Gold Cup, Champions Cup, Copa América and has also also participated in the Saudi Professional League where he has arbitrated Cristiano Ronaldo matches.
This will be the second game of Inter Miami where he is present, since he also had to arbitrate in the first leg of the round of 16 when Lionel Messi’s painting faced the Jamaica Cavalier.
One of his last matches at the international level was the final of the Concacaf Nations League held at the Sofi Stadium, where the Mexico team won by a score of 2 goals to 1 to Panama.
At the local level he has had ten appointments in the Clausura 2025 of Guatemalan football.
