In the absence of the Public Ministry (MP), the First Declaration Audience of Luis Pacheco, former president of the 48 cantons of Totonicapán, and Héctor Chaclán, treasurer of that organization, who must spend the night in a jail in a jail.
The diligence was scheduled for Thursday, April 24, but was postponed next Friday in the court on duty, without so far a schedule, official sources reported.
Both detainees will remain in the jail of the Tower of Courts.
Luis Pacheco, who currently occupies the position of Vice Minister of Development at the Ministry of Energy and Mines, was captured on recent Wednesday, a syndicated of five crimes related to the demonstrations that occurred in October 2023.
As confirmed by Moisés Ortiz, spokesman of the MP, the arrest of the official was requested by the Prosecutor’s Office under the positions of illegal association, sedition, terrorism, hindering criminal action and obstruction of justice.
In addition, three other community leaders are under investigation, including the governor of Sololá, Edgar Tuy, on whom the immunity retirement will be requested to proceed judicially.
