The Ministry of Labor published on Monday, April 28 in the Central America Diary Agreement 76-2025, which grants work permit with salary enjoyment on Friday, May 2, public servants who provide their services in the centralized and decentralized entities of the public administration.
The agreement excepts the public servants of the centralized and decentralized entities that, in compliance with their collective pact of working conditions, enjoy the holiday a different day than the one indicated.
It also exceeds public servants of the institutions that provide essential public services or have scheduled activities considered impossible, in which case the nominating authorities must program the corresponding shifts to guarantee the provision of services.
This May 2 numbers does not apply to private sector workers.
It is worth mentioning that on Thursday, May 1, Labor Day, there will also be a holiday in Guatemala, so public employees will enjoy two days off.
In Guatemala, the Constitutional Court left without effect the transfer of rest days and now you can only run on June 30, when Army Day is commemorated.
