A CBP investigation determined that between the afternoon of May 14, when the family, of Honduran origin, arrived in Harlingen, and the morning of May 17, The mother sought attention to the girl at least 9 times by symptoms similar to those of influenza.
The day she died, the girl (born in Panama) was attended by a practicing nurse four times after complaining stomach pain, nausea and breathing difficulty. The nurse had refused to send the girl to a hospital and for when she did it was too late.
“We demand responsibility and transparency to the CBP, an agency that has failed too many people”Organizations said in a statement, in which they stressed that the death of the little girl could be avoided.
