Three people who made a ditch on Calle Real del Brother Pedro, in Antigua Guatemala, were buried after a part of the collapse pavement. Therefore, the volunteer firefighters mobilized several units, whose elements managed to rescue the victims and transfer them to a health center.

Víctor Gómez, spokesman for the volunteer firefighters, commented that several workers who carried out trench for a sewerage were partially buried after the collapse of a section of the asphalt.

He added that lifeguards from the eighth company, along with other project workers, managed to rescue three people who had been trapped under the rubble of the collapsed asphalt.

After the successful rescue, medical emergency technicians provided prehospital care to each of those affected in the place. Subsequently, the injured workers were transferred to the Emergency Room of the National Hospital of Antigua Guatemala to receive specialized medical treatment, Gomez explained.

The competent authorities have not informed about the causes of the collapse of the asphalt during the sewer works, or on the current state of health of the rescued workers.
