An Izabal judge linked ten alleged members of the “Los Cats” structure to criminal proceedings, accused of kidnapping an older adult and committing other serious crimes.

A judge of first criminal instance of Izabal decided to link criminal proceedings on Wednesday, May 7 to ten people, alleged members of a criminal structure, who will be investigated for several crimes.
The inquiries began after the kidnapping of a senior citizen was reported, whose release demanded the payment of Q300 thousand. The events occurred on October 23, 2024 in Morales, Izabal.
According to the information, it was negotiated with the structure called “Los Cats” to receive a payment of Q7 thousand 487. After reaching an agreement, the next day they released the victim.
The defendants are Selvin Paiz Figueroa, Marvin Paiz Figueroa, Belinda Salazar, David Salazar, América Isabel Salazar, Brandon González, Luis Fernando Sanabria, Mark Urízar García, Osman Omar Cordero and Adolfo Felipe Santos.
The syndicates will be investigated by plagiarism or kidnapping, murder, conspiracy for plagiarism or kidnapping, conspiracy for murder, aggravated robbery, illegal carrying of weapons, traffic, trade and storage, in addition to possession of weapons not marked by Digecam.
The Public Ministry will have a period of three months to expand the investigation, and the intermediate stage hearing was scheduled for August 20.
