The Marquense Deportivo and the Municipal CSD matched 1-1 in the match corresponding to the first leg of the Clausura 2025 tournament of the National Soccer League of Guatemala, which leaves the open qualifier for the Vuelta, on Sunday, May 11.
The team of the Indomitable Lions came out with the intensity that characterizes it in the Marquise Stadium of the Ensenada and knew how to take advantage of the first clear option in front of the Kenderson Navarro arch when just six minutes passed in the stopwatch. Óscar Linton appeared without a mark in the small area and sent the ball to the bottom of the goal with a subtle touch of his left foot.
However, the scarlet team did not let it dominate and reacted immediately with a goal by José Mena, in minute seven, after the collection of a corner kick.
The rest of the meeting passed with a constant fight in the midfield through the ball and some approaches, all of municipal in the second half, but did not translate into goals.
This result leaves the series between Marquense and Municipal open to be defined on Sunday, May 11, when they face the Manuel Felipe Carrera stadium, at 3:00 p.m.
In the general balance of the season, it is the third direct duel between lions and scarlets, and all have been draws.

The last time Municipal defeated Marquense was in November 2024, when they faced on the 14th day of the Opening 2024 tournament. The team led by Sebastián Bini won thanks to goals from José Martínez and Matías Rotondi (2-0).
The return meeting will define the second finalist of the Clausura 2025 tournament, as it will be played after the winner of the series between former GFC and Cobán Imperial.
