The classic of Spain always brings passion, history and, as on this occasion, a strong emotional burden. One day that the duel between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona is disputed, corresponding to the 35th day of LaLiga 2024/25, Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the meringue team, left a phrase that lit the previous party and did not go unnoticed.
In the press conference prior to the match that will be played this Sunday, May 11 at 8.15 (Guatemala time), Ancelotti was consulted about his emotions by directing a new Spanish classic, knowing that he could be the last one under his current term. The Italian coach’s response was direct, but ended with a comment that many interpreted as a dart towards the eternal rival.
“It is always special to play against Barcelona, it is one of the most important matches in the world. It has history, it has quality, and both teams always try to do their best.”
Ancelotti, who has won absolutely everything with Real Madrid, not only warmed the previous one with his words, but also made the confidence with which his team reaches this crucial duel. At the close of his response speech he unleashed the controversy.
“It is special because it is the last classic of the season … since Barcelona is not in the Club World Cup”
He said between smiles, unleashing laughs among those present and generating immediate reactions on social networks. Real Madrid is second in the table with 75 points, four less than Barcelona, so a victory at Santiago Bernabéu would put them fully in the fight for the title in the absence of three days.

On Blaugrana side, Hansi Flick has avoided entering the war of statements, and everything indicates that they will seek to respond only on the court. The boat leads the table with 79 points and knows that a triumph would leave him at one step away from being crowned champion. Even a tie could leave it well stopped, as long as they do not fall on the last dates.
This comment by Ancelotti revives the rivalry between both teams not only on the court, but also in the international records. The absence of Barcelona in the next Club World Cup, a tournament to which Real Madrid will attend as European champion, was the exact point that the coach took the opportunity to send the message.
Tomorrow, everything will be defined on the pitch. But from now on, the classic is also playing outside it, and Ancelotti has shown that it is clear about the strategy to heat the environment and motivate theirs.
