The writer Gioconda Belli is the vice president of the Central America Festival accountwhich is presented in Guatemala from May 19 to 24. Has participated in multiple activities organized as part DAnd this event in that about 90 writers, artists and journalists are as special guests.
The event created by Sergio Ramírez has been the stage for the public to interact with outstanding personalities of the literary world, cinema and music. Belli even presented his most recent book, A silence full of murmursin the Sophos bookstore, zone 10.
About 300 people attended the event to meet the author, who offered a pleasant presentation and dedicated time to sign copies.
Recognition as a distinguished visitor
Ricardo Quiñónez, mayor of the capital, delivered on Thursday afternoon a recognition of the writer Gioconda Belli as a distinguished visitor, in an act held at the Municipal Cultural Center, Patio de la Fuente, in the emblematic Post Office.

During the event, the writer had the opportunity to meet Joaquín Orellanaoutstanding Guatemalan musician and writer. Belli met one of the sound supplies, original inventions that Orellana has presented in international scenarios.

The author also interacted with children who received art classes; Several of them approached to ask for photos and autographs in their drawings.

Gioconda Belli He was born in Managua, Nicaragua. His talent, work and active struggle have made it worthy of recognitions such as the Brief Library and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz awards, for their novel The infinity in the palm of the hand (Seix Barral, 2008).
In 2024 he was recognized with the Ibero -American Critical Eye and in 2023 he won the Reina Sofía Poetry Award. He also received the Honoris Causa doctorate from the state University of Costa Rica (UCR), for its contributions to culture, education, democracy and human rights. Belli is for the second time in exile and currently lives in Spain.
