With an adaptation that promises a story of horror and mystery, Mexican director Guillermo del Toro presented next to Netflix The official trailer of Frankenstein. According to the official Netflix synopsis: Víctor Frankenstein is a brilliant but selfish scientist who gives life to a creature in a monstrous experiment, which finally leads to the ruin of both the creator and his tragic creation.

The first view of the film begins with a Frankenstein statement at a medical conference: “I had decided that the memories of my crimes would die with me. Some things I will tell them are made, others not, but everything is true.”

The story is built from the look of Víctor Frankenstein, while the trailer He anticipates the emergence of the creature: “Only a monster plays to be God,” is heard before presenting the character that, according to the progress, will bring death and chaos.

Confirmed cast for Frankenstein

The trailer revealed by Netflix confirms that Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth – who will play Elizabeth Lapza, Victor’s fiancee – head the main cast. The plot will take the public for a narrative loaded with destruction, fear and ethical dilemmas.

Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convert, David Bradley, Charles Dance and Christoph Waltz will join, Netflix confirmed.

During the event, Oscar Isaac commented that the project is “a large and deeply Mexican adaptation.” For his part, Mia Goth stressed that the monster played by Elordi “causes terror, but also compassion for its history,” according to Citó National Geographic.

A personal project for Guillermo del Toro

This adaptation has been a long -awaited dream by the director. In an interview with Collider In 2010, Del Toro confessed:

“The most important figure of the English legacy is, incredibly, for me, a teenager named Mary Shelley. It has been such an important presence in my life as if it were my family. Many times, when I want to give up, when they tell me that dreaming of the stories I imagine is impossible, I think of it.”

How the role of Oscar Isaac was born

In an interview with The Hollywood ReporterOscar Isaac reported how the bull proposed the role: “We were talking and, after a long talk, he looked at me and said: ‘I think you need to be my Victor Frankenstein.”

The actor added: “He promised me a banquet as an actor, and that was what he did. Every day on the set they were exciting, with beautiful, complex and expressive scenes.”

Isaac also stressed that this adaptation is not a conventional horror film, but a dark, sumptuous and dramatic story about the characters, deeply rooted in the director’s personal vision.

For his part, Mia Goth said that it is an emotional and personal work, linked to the childhood of Del Toro.

On the interpretation of Elordi, Isaac said: “It is an elegant, beautiful and furious portrait of this creature.”
