The National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) shared information about the weather for this Wednesday, June 4, and foresees a warm and humid atmosphere, in addition to cloudiness with rains.

He added that great humidity and atmospheric instability will cause cloudiness with rains accompanied by electrical activity, mainly during the afternoon and night throughout the national territory.

The largest accumulated can occur in the regions of the West, Bocacosta, Central Altiplano, Valleys of the East and Pacific.

Atmospheric conditions can favor severe local storms (abundant rain, strong wind and possible hail fall), mainly in mountainous or volcanic sectors, the Insivumeh added.

He recommended that the population take the necessary precautions against the planned rains, since they could cause lahars in the volcanic chain, sudden floods of rivers, floods, mass movements or damage to the country’s road network.

On Wednesday morning, rains were reported in Guatemala City and in surrounding municipalities, according to traffic authorities.
