Around 2 pm, the famous Colombian actresses Natalia Ramírez and Lorna Cepeda arrived in Guatemala after their recent presentation in El Salvador. Almost two days before the presentation they will have in the country with comedy Dead of laughter which will be in the Industry Park next Sunday, June 15.

They share that this idea arose as a proposal from Cepeda (Patricia Fernández in the novel ANDor I’m Betty, the ugly) To produce this comedy. “We are looking for a friend, well known and with whom we had already worked before, Juan Ricardo Gómez. He writes excellent librettos,” explains Ramírez who is remembered for his role as Marcela Valencia.

“He showed us a story that already had written, very fun and original: it deals with two women who coincide in the morgue to recognize their loved one … and it turns out that it is the same man. That is when they realize that they have been victims of the same person. They face a double pain: the duel for the loss and betrayal of infidelity. And it is precisely from that tragedy that begins all the dynamics of the comedy.

Colombian actresses also talked for 10 minutes about their career and projects, without neglecting what they have represented in the universe of I am Betty, the uglythe novel, which debuted in 1999 and was created by screenwriter Fernando Gaitán.

To remember, it became the most successful novel of all time. He received a Guinnes record in 2010 in this category and was transmitted in more than 180 countries and folded to 25 languages.

Upon arrival in Guatemala they also recorded a video to share their first moments on this land.

What has meant to work together and strengthen that friendship and connection they have had during all these years?

Lorna: We have never disconnected in the labor issue. Through the years we have always continued working on different productions and our friendship has been present. We know each other a lot, we know how to work with each other. It has been cool (very beautiful).

And what has been for you to impact for 25 years in Latin America and the world?

Natalia: It has been a blessing. Actually, there are only words of thanks to be able to express the privilege we had to have been in that novel and that has had the success and the phenomenon that was worldwide.

Lorna: Continue with the story that makes prime video was for us an honor and a pleasure, because we are always willing to return to these characters. We already have them in the DNA, they are part of us.

Making comedy in such a convulsed world sometimes represents an act of resistance. What do you think about it?

Lorna: We were talking little, because the world has always had its dark characteristics. I feel that comedy gives you a little light and a little respite.

Natalia: It seems to me that comedy generates laughter and laughter is heal. Then, laughter relieves you, heals you. There are many studies that say that if you are sick, you try to see series that make you laugh, be next to people who can laugh, because that segregates a number of hormones that favor you so you can cure.
It is interesting that, through laughter, people can also heal.

What stories have impacted them from the public with which they have shared on stage?

Natalia: There are many people who tell us very special things, things as extreme as: “They saved my life. I was going to commit suicide and my only moment was to see Betty, and if it hadn’t been for you, I would probably have lost my life. ”

An Argentine girl who was in a coma listened Betty all the time. When he woke up, he remembered the voices, the sounds. Something sympathetic also happens: people may not place me at first, but when I hear my voice, they tell me: “It’s Marcela!”

How are they still united and what happened in the farewell moments of the cast of I am Betty, the ugly?

Natalia: Our dead are always important angels that take care of us. Dora Cadavid, Raúl Santa, Celmira Luzardo … There have been many. The most recent, Kepa Amuchástegui.
We have lost part of the army and are low that hurt and are surprised. At the same time, it is appreciated to have been able to share with each of them, because the novel made us family.

What do you think you have Colombia for the rest of the region?

Lorna: I feel our humor. We are Latin that we understand a lot in that aspect. Now, with all globalization, that has helped us unite a lot.

Natalia: We also bring thanks for so much love received. Guatemalans are very affectionate.

They have anecdotes of their trips to Guatemala. They have been here on two past times also sharing in theater.

Natalia: We were when we came with Betty Theaterin Antigua Guatemala. A cobbled city and with an impressive arch. They have beautiful places. We also met Cayalá, it looks like a Santorini. They have spectacular food. Whenever we have left, we miss Guatemala.
