The arrest warrant against Angelita Martínez, head of the General Archive Unit of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) and trade unionist, was turned on the crimes of abuse of authority continuously, material falsehood and quality usurpation, according to judicial sources.
Martínez’s arrest occurred during the raids of the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Impunity (FECI), in the seed case.
Judge Fredy Orellana only reported the detention reasons and scheduled the first statement hearing for this Wednesday, June 18.
During the hearing, prosecutor Leonor Morales referred to the statements given by Martínez to the media, in which she said she was a protected witness within the judicial file of the corruption case seed.
Morales indicated that Martínez was not accepted under that procedural figure and, prior authorization of Judge Orellana, questioned her about her statements. Martínez replied that, according to the Public Ministry, he had been accepted as a protected witness.
Judge Fredy Orellana referred to the protected witness figure and said that in the file there is no person with that quality. It will be until Wednesday when the facts that are charged to Martínez are known. The judge also resolved to remain in jail of the Torre de Courts until the development of the first statement hearing.
