Director of the Penitentiary System announces measures after mutiny in renewal I.

The director of the Penitentiary System (SP), Ludin Astolfo Godínez, reported on the actions that are undertaken after mutiny and hostage in the renewal jail I, occurred on Sunday, June 15.
In a shared video this June 17, Godínez indicated that mutiny was a reaction to the disciplinary measures that have been considered necessary and that are attached to the legal mandate of the SP to guard the deprived of liberty and maintain order in the detention centers.
He informed that, after what happened on Sunday, visits for all sectors of this prison for men, located in Escuintla, were suspended.
He said that security protocols have been strengthened to correct the potential vulnerabilities.
It is important to mention that changes have been made in the authorities of the center and instructions for the rotation of the Penitentiary Guard have been issued, so that the least continuous time possible in the same center remains, the official said.
What happened in renewal I
On June 15, the Minister of the Interior, Francisco Jiménez, and the National Civil Police (PNC) confirmed a mutiny at the Renewal I. prison center.
Jiménez said that those deprived of liberty also retained, against their will, the visits that were in the enclosure.
According to the SP, the prison control was retaken that same day.
