The former mayor of Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla (2020-2024), Romeo Ramos Cruz, 56 years old, he accepted on Wednesday, June 18, be extradited towards the US, where justice requires it under drug trafficking positions, judicial sources reported.
The National Civil Police (PNC) reported on May 15 that investigators at the Transnational Anti -Pandilla Center captured Ramos, also known with the alias of “Alfa”, during an operation at kilometer 98.5 of the road to Cerro Colorado, Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, Escuintla.
On that occasion, the PNC said that Ramos is syndicated by an US court of the crime of conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more than a mixture and substance that contains a detectable amount of cocaine, with intention, knowledge and reasonable cause to believe that the drug would be illegally imported to the United States.
At the time of detention, the PNC seized a picop, a gun, a carbine, ammunition and a cell phone.
