Trump Mobile withdraws map after controversy by name of the Gulf of Mexico

Trump Mobile, the new mobile phone operator presented Monday by the children of the US president, Donald Trump, withdrew on Tuesday from his website the company’s signal coverage map, after users on social networks, highlighted that he included the term “Gulf of Mexico”.

The company deactivated the link to the map that shows the geographical scope of its signal reception, after many Internet users stressed that the body of water east Mexico had been labeled as “Gulf of Mexico” and not “Gulf of America”, a term that Trump prefers.

The president himself signed an executive order as soon as he returns to power in January, in which he forced to rename this mass of water such as “Gulf of America” in any reference, map and federal document.

“Gulf of Mexico” is the name officially recognized by the International Hydrographic Organization, which seeks to standardize names in the cartographic plane, for the marine area located east of Mexico, west of Cuba and that bathes the coasts of the American states Texas, Louisiana and Alabama, as well as the western slope of Florida.

On Monday, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. presented the launch of Trump Mobile, a mobile phone service that seems to cement the Trump organization, already very turned to cryptocurrencies, towards the technological sector.

Trump Mobile has also announced the next release of a telephone baptized as T1, designed and manufactured in the US, which will work with the Android operating system and will cost $ 499.

Experts have pointed to the impossibility of currently manufacturing a telephone with the technical characteristics of the T1 in the US, given the current configuration of global supply chains.

Trump himself considers one of its main goals to bring to the US.
