The coastal police of El Salvador seized 134 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a boat on the Pacific coast of the country, which was allegedly transported by members of a Central American drug trafficking network, the Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro, said Thursday.
“Our coastal police carried out the intervention of a boat to 10 nautical miles of the Crab Beach, La Libertad, which transported 134 kilos of cocaine, valued at $ 3.36 million,” Villatoro published in X.
According to the official, the vessel was supposedly led by José Guillermo Arce Marín and Julio Alonso Revelo Martínez, both residents of San Luis La Herradura, La Paz, “who carried the drug hidden in an ice cream that contained a cove.”
“These criminals, who are part of a regional drug trafficking structure, left Nicaragua and intended to take the drug to Guatemala, but their operation was truncated thanks to coordinated work between our coastal police and the anti -narcotics division,” he said.
According to official figures, 28.2 tons of drugs have been seized during the last year, valued at $ 706.8 million.
A total of 17.2 tons of different types of drugs were seized in Salvadoran Pacific waters only in 2024, of which 16.7 tons correspond to Cocaine, the Minister of Defense, René Francis Merino, said at the beginning of May.
