The infrastructure should be seen as strategic investment and not only as an expense. This was one of Andrés Rivera’s conclusions, president of architectural steels, who talked with Laysa Palomo in a new episode of Vamos to the grain, the Guatemalan Videopodcast does not stop.
Let’s go to the grain at 5 points
- Will to execute: Although there are assigned budgets and contracts, according to the expert many works do not advance because the authorities do not prioritize them, so there is an opportunity to improve.
- Delays in state payments: Builders clarify that they need working capital. When the State does not pay in time, the works are paralyzed because there are no resources to buy materials or pay wages.
- Supervision improvement: Control mechanisms usually intervene when it’s too late. Although each work should have technical supervision, it is not always enforced effectively.
- Lack of long -term planning and vision: Many projects begin without solid technical studies, without defined schedules and without ensuring continuity between governments.
- Lack of continuity between administrations. The new authorities tend to review, pause or cancel projects initiated by their predecessors, which causes prolonged delays.
