Armed attack in the Aguilar Batres paralyzes the south of the capital and unleashes vehicular chaos

The vehicular traffic collapsed this Thursday, July 3 in several sectors of the south of Guatemala City, due to an armed attack on the Raúl Aguilar Batres road. The Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) recommends patience and the use of alternate roads.

Official sources reported that a person was finalized while traveling as a co -pilot of a truck, at the height of 43 street, Raúl Aguilar Batres Calzada.

Dalia Santos, spokeswoman for the PMT of Villa Nueva, confirmed that, by instruction of the Public Ministry (MP), lanes were closed to carry out the corresponding proceedings, which affected mobility in that sector.

He added that the reversible lane of the capital towards the south was not enabled, which also affects the congestion. Although the proceedings have already concluded, the traffic remains complicated.

Santos urged motorists to respect traffic signs and follow the indications of the agents. He also recommended taking alternate routes.

For his part, Amílcar Montejo, communication director of Emetra, said that vehicular accumulation affects several sectors.

He said that there is congestion from Bolívar Avenue and 33 street of zone 3 to the entrance to the Wholesale Central (CENMA), on the way to Villa Nueva.

He added that, from kilometer 15 of the Route to the Pacific – the Wild Tejada bridge – to the Monte María neighborhood, in Villa Nueva, where the attack occurred, the traffic is also detained.

In the peripheral, the traffic is slow from the Cejusa bridge to the Aguilar Batres road, in zone 11.

In the La Reformita neighborhood, the circulation is complicated in the 7th. Avenida, from the 23rd street of zone 12 to the University of San Carlos, for the slow incorporation to the El Carmen neighborhood, which connects with Monte María.
