The investigation

According to MP investigations, through the Special Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption (FECI), Melvin Quijivix is suspicious of the crime of money laundering, due to a series of financial movements for an amount of Q85 million, as well as in dollars, through bank accounts in the name of a company linked to Quijivix and that, according to reports from the Municipality of Special Verification (IVE), lacked the financial capacity to carry out this type of transactions.

In addition to these suspicious bank transactions, The MP also tracked three recent model cars registered in the name of that company, and it was found that one of them has a value greater than Q1 million. According to the investigations, these vehicles have not been located, but the order was already issued for kidnapping.

According to the chief of the FECI, Rafael Curruchiche, The evidence suggests that the former president of the IND had formed a structure dedicated to money laundering, which is why the arrest warrant was requested, as well as the confiscation of the goods.

Ghost Plaza

A complaint filed by the Ministry of Planning and Programming of the Presidency (Segeplan), for its link with an alleged ghost place in the Inde, also weighs on Melvin Quijivix. This is also linked to the former Segeplan, Keyla Gramajo, and former president Alejandro Giammattei, who are presumed to be responsible for their appointment in the presidency of the Inde and the authorization of that place.

About this complaint, the head of Segeplan, Carlos Mendoza, said during a press conference at the National Palace of Culture that the statements of the Chief of the FECI, Rafael Curruchiche, are false about the alleged lack of collaboration by the Secretariat in the proceedings and investigations.

As Mendoza explained, it was during the current management, In November of the previous year, which filed the corresponding complaint against Melvin Quijivix, Keyla Gramajo and Alejandro Giammattei, to investigate the Plaza Ghost through which the former president of the Inde was benefited.

“In the case of Segeplan’s complaint, as you know, we denounce the former president Alejandro Giammattei for abuse of authority, influence peddling and breach of duties; to the former Secretary of Segeplan, Keyla Gramajo, for abuse of authority, influence peddling, but also for peculation by subtraction, illegal appointments, fraud and breach of duties; Melvin Quijivix for abuse of authority, influence peddling, peculation for subtraction and breach of duties ”Mendoza said.

He also assured that there is no “prior to resolve”, as the Public Ministry wants to believe, since in the resolution of the Twelfth Court of Criminal Instance, the investigating entity is ordered to initiate the investigations about the complaint filed by Segeplan for the alleged phantom square in favor of Quijivix.

From that account, he asked the MP to carry out the corresponding investigations related to this case.
