Pediatrician Neha Gupta was arrested for the alleged murder of her 4 -year -old daughter during a vacation in Florida, her ex -husband, also doctor Saurabh Talathi, had requested three months ago to have a psychiatric evaluation as part of a legal battle for the custody of the child.
Gupta, 36, a pediatrician originally from Oklahoma, faces a first degree murder position for the death of her daughter, Aria Talathi, which occurred on June 27 on the portal, a small town north of Miami. According to the authorities, the doctor tried to cover up the crime as an accident by drowning in a private pool.
According to the department of the Miami-Dade County Sheriff, Gupta would have suffocated the child and then placed the body in a private pool they had rented through Airbnb. The forensic report ruled out the drowning as a cause of death, since neither the lungs nor the victim’s stomach contained water.
The doctor, according to media as Univisión, had recently been fired from her work. The doctor had also traveled with the girl from Oklahoma to Miami without notifying the child of the child.
The case charged a greater dimension after knowing that the girl’s father had requested before a family court in Oklahoma a psychiatric evaluation of his ex -wife.
The doctor made the request indicating that Neha Gupta showed erratic behaviors and represented “potential risks for the well -being of the girl.”
Although the details of the custody file have not been announced because it is a case of minors, a source with direct knowledge of the legal process confirmed to Univisión that Talathi’s request was pending resolution at the time of the facts. According to the same source, the father did not know that Gupta had taken the child outside the State, which could constitute a violation of the current agreements of shared custody.
