Authorized Economic Operator in the importer modality

Walmart has a strategic achievement that positions the company as a benchmark in international trade, by obtaining authorization in Guatemala as an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) in the importer modality, granted by the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT).

The AEO qualification, part of an international program promoted by the World Customs Organization (WCO), recognizes companies that meet the highest security standards in the logistics chain, customs control, tax compliance and risk management.

“Obtaining AEO authorization is an important milestone for Walmart in Guatemala, as it reflects our commitment to excellence, safety and transparency in all our operations. This authorization will also allow us to bring products more efficiently to Guatemalan families, reaffirming our mission to contribute to improving the quality of life of our customers,” said Mey Hung, Corporate Affairs Manager of Walmart Guatemala and Honduras.

This also translates into significant benefits that will directly impact your operation and service to your customers. Among them are the streamlining and greater efficiency in their import operations, the reduction of times in customs clearance, optimization of physical and documentary inspections; and priority in customs controls.

Likewise, for Walmart it is a badge of trust that strengthens the relationship between the private sector and customs authorities; and with this it continues to strengthen its regional operation, aligning itself with the best international foreign trade practices.
