The Cobán Imperial team reported this Wednesday, April 22, about the health status of the goalkeepers Tomás Agustín Casas and Víctor Manuel Ayala, who were injured during matchday 21 of the 2026 Clausura Tournament in the match against Deportivo Achuapa.
In an official statement released on social networks, the institution detailed that the Argentine goalkeeper Tomás Casas suffered a craniocerebral trauma that, after the corresponding medical evaluations, was diagnosed as facial trauma.
After performing cranial studies to rule out any major alterations, it was determined that he had inflammation in the macula of his right eye. In addition, it was necessary to place two stitches on his upper lip for a wound caused by the impact.
For this reason, the goalkeeper must maintain relative rest, which practically rules out his participation in the last match of the regular phase against Xelajú MC on date 22 of the national competition.
As for the goalkeeper gGuatemalan Víctor “Lobo” Ayala, the diagnosis was more severe. The club confirmed that he suffered a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon in his right leg, an injury that will require surgery. to reconstruct the affected tendon. Subsequently, Ayala will begin a long recovery process under the supervision of the medical area, so she will be out for several months.
Although the Blue Princes achieved an important victory against Achuapa, a result that allowed them to ensure permanence in the National League and seal their classification to the league, the news was not entirely encouraging on the medical side, as they lost their two goalkeepers, one seriously.
Given this scenario, technical director Martín García will have to evaluate alternatives to defend the goal in the last match of the regular phase, and everything indicates that a special category player could assume responsibility under the three sticks.
As an institution, the club expressed its full support for both players during their recovery and sent them this message of encouragement: A lot of strength, Tomás and Lobo, with the confidence that they will return stronger to the fields.
